It is the industry that internal market consumption represents to any national economy vs. Exports. It is also the most important industry to any nation and is not unlike the Money market loan industry. The Russian bread lines on TV were fictional while it gave the American population the sense of hegemony they wanted. But, a bank robbery or a bread line are equivalent in terms of market malfides and the unutilized purpose of the human being as consumers to generate ROI such that a little money lent to the system in the hands of the consumer generates immediate return for the government on every sale of bread and other goods; in particular gasoline. Money market loans earn around 2 percent per day. Sales tax at 19-20 percent is an essential means of commercial revenue for the government and it precludes the consumer market weakness that the Russians were believed to have suffered comparatively speaking during the era of the USSR yet it is what America suffers today in the absence of consistent "across the board" basic income regardless of complexion for every American. This is following the cessation of manufacturing of nearly all consumer goods in America pursuant to the "Adam Smith" model of economies of scale that said America was best to leave the manufacturing of goods to Asian countries who were more efficient but the evidence says the Asians were more efficient only because they respected the "Adam Smith" model to apply the most efficient technique with robotic labor to be, as the logic of endeavour requires, efficient as noted again by Adam Smith.
